Twenty years across enterprise software, AI platforms, manufacturing and turnaround — mostly in businesses that needed something fixed, built or scaled.

Sally Chamley

Most recently, four years at Gratte Brothers (£260M group) as Head of Software Solutions for TARGET — an AI/ML fraud detection platform processing 12.2M daily retail transactions for Tesco alone. The function needed building out: new teams, cross-functional workflows, commercial discipline and a roadmap aligned to revenue. The platform grew from a single £1M contract to £12M ARR across seven countries.

Before that, a PE-mandated turnaround at Swype — full process and IT restructure across an RFID manufacturing business, delivering £4.1M revenue and £600K EBITDA mid-pandemic on a leaner cost base.

At Avantor Sciences (MESM Ltd), a post-acquisition transformation across a £24M global medical devices business supplying clinical trials for J&J, Pfizer, AstraZeneca, IQVIA and Syneos Health — redesigning the ERP data layer, rebuilding quote-to-cash end to end, and restructuring a sales operation of 20 account managers and 4 technical presales against a £24M target.

The foundation.

Fourteen years building Black Orchid Interiors from a standing start — £1.3M angel investment raised, manufacturing across the UK, India and China, a global supply chain and SAP ERP implementation, House of Fraser concessions and an international franchise. £200K to £2M turnover, and a working understanding of what it costs to build something rather than inherit it.

The approach.

Technically fluent rather than hands-on technical — able to direct the architecture, challenge the approach, and translate between engineering and the boardroom. Sectors: retail, medical, fintech, energy and utilities. Clients and partners have included Tesco Global, Gridserve, Nissan, Amazon and Avantor Sciences.
